UNDP Supports the Construction of Multi-Purpose Community Centers to Promote Peace and Community Development in Kutum Locality
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen social cohesion and promote a culture of peace, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) funded the construction of multi-purpose community centers in Kutum Locality, North Darfur State, in partnership with the German Organization for Agricultural Development and in collaboration with Al Rayan Organization for Social Development. The project included the construction of three multi-purpose community centers: Two centers in Al Quba Al Hilla and Dambatnaq. One center in Disa. These centers provide valuable community spaces that will serve multiple purposes, including: Hosting community dialogue and reconciliation sessions led by Community-Based Reconciliation Mechanisms (CBRM) to peacefully resolve local disputes. Providing safe spaces for youth and women's activities. Supporting community meetings, awareness sessions, and social events. Serving as venues for early childhood education and recreational activities. The centers are expected to play a significant role in strengthening community cohesion, supporting peacebuilding initiatives, and providing inclusive spaces that benefit all members of the community.
