Project Description & Goals

Project: Enhancing Peaceful Coexistence and Social Cohesion in Conflict-Affected Communities – Rural Kutum (North Darfur) Period: March 2021 – December 2023 1. Context and Objectives The project was launched as a humanitarian and developmental intervention to address the deep-rooted impacts of armed conflict in Rural Kutum. It focused on two strategic objectives: Rebuilding the social fabric through activities that brought together various components of the local community. Empowering the most affected groups (particularly women) economically and socially, as they are considered pillars of family and community stability.

Project Results & Outcomes

Positive Achievements (Key Outcomes) A. Social Impact – Reduced Time, Effort, and Risk The project established productive centers within targeted villages, saving women the burden of traveling long distances to neighboring areas. This directly contributed to: Avoiding the dangers of unsafe roads. Reducing exposure to assaults and threats during movement. Providing women with a safe space to carry out their daily activities. B. Economic Impact – Financial Independence for Women's Groups "Women's groups" were formed, trained, and enabled to manage small income-generating projects within a secure environment. These groups achieved: Financial self-reliance for women without intermediaries. A stable source of income contributing to household expenses. Building emergency savings that enhance resilience in times of crisis.
